Family Owned Since 1960
Established in 1960 by Robert and Gloria Messerlian, the company continued to evolve when their son Paul Messerlian came onboard full-time in 1987. Paul expanded the retail division into what has become one of Rhode Island’s largest and most premier jewelry stores. Paul’s daughter, Janina Messerlian, joined the company in 2018 to carry the family business forward and into the future.

Our History
Since 1960, Robert and Gloria Messerlian have been working hard to serve the community of Warwick for their jewelry needs. Over the years, the company blossomed as changes were happening all around them. Expanding from pearls and extending the original building, Baxter's has been happy to help each and every customer that walks through their doors ever since the every beginning.

Where it all began
Our founders, Bob and Gloira, would travel to Japan and select husks of pearls, like you see in this image. Our journey into retail all began with buying and selling pearls!
Where we are today
Now in our sixth decade, we believe the reason we’ve been around so long is because we’ve never taken for granted, not for one moment, the honor and trust our customers bestow on us when they choose our jewelry to express their love and joy.
